George Szirtes was born in Budapest in 1948. He has published several books of poetry with Bloodaxe, was awarded the T. S. Eliot Prize for Reel in 2004, and has been shortlisted for two subsequent books, most recently Bad Machine in 2013. His New and Collected Poems appeared in 2008.
