Joshua Mehigan was born in 1969. His first book, The Optimist (Ohio Univ. Press, 2004), was one of five finalists for a 2005 Los Angeles Times Book Prize and winner of the Hollis Summers Poetry Prize. Recent poems have appeared in The New Republic, The New York Times, Poetry, and other periodicals. Mehigan is the recipient of a 2011 NEA Fellowship.
