Larry Levis

Larry Levis published five collections of poems during his life, the most recent of which was The Widening Spell of the Leaves (Pittsburgh, 1991). A new book, Elegy, will be published by the University of Pittsburgh Press this fall. At the time of his death in May 1996, he was Professor of English at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. His awards included the U.S. Award of the International Poetry Forum, a Lamont Prize, and a selection by the National Poetry Series.
