Laurence Goldstein is Professor of English at the University of Michigan, where he has edited Michigan Quarterly Review since 1977. He has published three books of poetry, and a fourth, A Room in California is forthcoming in the spring of 2005 from Northwestern University Press / TriQuarterly Books. He has published three books of literary criticism, most recently The American Poet at the Movies: A Critical History, and edited or coedited seven scholarly volumes, most recently Robert Hayden: Essays on the Poetry. In progress is an edited volume of writings about Ann Arbor for the University of Michigan Press and a study of contemporary American poetry and violence.
