Michael Downs currently works and writes in Kraków, Poland, as a Fulbright Scholar. When he returns to the States, he will resume work as director of the graduate program in professional writing at Towson University. A recipient of a literature fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, he is the author of three books, most recently The Strange and True Tale of Horace Wells, Surgeon Dentist (Acre Books, 2018).
