Simon Ortiz's new collection of poetry, After and Before the Lightning, will be published by the University of Arizona Press in the fall. Previous poetry works include From Sand Creek and Woven Stone. He has also published short fiction, Fightin': New & Collected Stories, and children's literature, The People Shall Continue. Currently living in Tucson, Arizona, he served in the 1980s as Interpreter and First Lt. Governor of Acoma Pueblo, his Native American community.
