Yiyun Li came to the U.S. from China in 1996 and began to publish in English in 2002. Her fiction and essays have appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Zoetrope: All-Story and elsewhere. Her debut collection, A Thousand Years of Good Prayers, won the O'Connor International Short Story Award and PEN/Hemingway award.
