Bobbie Ann Mason

Bobbie Ann Mason published her first short stories in the New Yorker in the 1980s. Her story “Shiloh” and her novel In Country (Harper & Row, 1985) are taught widely in college classes. Her memoir, Clear Springs (Random House, 1999), was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Her newest novel is The Girl in the Blue Beret (Random House, 2011). A retrospective collection of her works called Patchwork: A Bobbie Ann Mason Reader, with an introduction by George Saunders, is new this summer (University Press of Kentucky, 2018).
