John Cullen
John Cullen grew up in New Orleans and was educated at the universities of Virginia and Texas. He is the translator of many books from French, German, Italian, and Spanish. In 2010, his translation of Philippe Claudel’s Brodeck won both the French-American Foundation Translation Prize and the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize. His most recent translations include Kamel Daoud’s The Meursault Investigation (Other Press, 2015), Patrick Modiano’s Villa Triste (Other Press, 2016), Chantal Thomas’ The Exchange of Princesses (Other Press, 2015), David Trueba’s Blitz (Anagram, 2015), Juli Zeh’s Decompression (Anchor, 2015), and Luigi Carletti’s Supernotes (Nan A. Talese, 2016). He lives in upstate New York.
