Annie FInch.

Poet, critic, playwright, speaker, and performer Annie Finch is the author of twenty books of poetry and poetics including Calendars and Eve, both finalists for the National Poetry Series, Spells: New and Selected Poems (Wesleyan University Press), the writing guide A Poet’s Craft, works of poetics The Ghost of Meter and The Body of Poetry, and anthologies including A Formal Feeling Comes,Villanelles, An Exaltation of FormsMeasure for Measure: An Anthology of Poetic Meters, and Choice Words: Writers on Abortion. Her other works include poetry translation and collaborations with choral music, opera, theater, and dance. Annie writes the column Confessions of Poetry Witch: Matriarchy, Meters, and Magic on Substack and performs with Poetry Witchuals Theater. She earned a Ph.D from Stanford University and has spoken and performed at venues such as Harvard, Princeton, Oxford, the Jaipur Literary Festival, and Emerging Women. She lives in New York City.
