John McGahern

John McGahern, the celebrated Irish writer, was the author of many novels and short story collections, including The Dark (1965), Amongst Women (1990), and Creatures of the Earth: New and Selected Stories (2006). He died in March, 2006. In November, 2006, a group of McGahern’s friends gathered to celebrate the opening of the John McGahern Library. A film of the occasion, Amongst Friends , was released in 2007.
