Rafael Alcides

Rafael Alcides was one of the most important Cuban poets of the revolutionary period. In 1968 he grew disillusioned with Castro’s regime after he defended the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. Subsequently, his work was banned from publication by official publishing houses, and he entered a period of internal exile that lasted until 2011. He died in 2018.
