Sapphire
Sapphire is the author of two books of poetry: American Dreams (High Risk Books, 1994) and Black Wings & Blind Angels (Vintage, 2000). She is also the author of two novels: Push (Knopf, 1996) and The Kid (Penguin Press, 2011). Her novel Push was adapted into the Academy Award-winning film Precious. She currently lives in New York City where she is working on a triad of novels, The Harlem Trilogy, and a selected volume of her poetry. (Updated 04/2026)
