Round-Up: Hillary Clinton, Fox Chapel Publishing, and Warren Buffett
From Hillary Clinton’s deal with Simon & Schuster to Warren Buffett’s life-changing read, here’s the latest literary news:
- Simon & Schuster has secured a deal with Hillary Clinton to publish a collection of the former Democratic presidential nominee’s quotes, essays, and reflections on her campaign experience. “These are words I live by. These quotes have helped me . . . deepen my appreciation of all life has to offer,” Clinton said in a press release. The book is expected to be released this fall.
- Fox Chapel Publishing has acquired Lumina Media’s books division. The acquisition will add 330 print books and 440 e-books focusing on animal care, gardening, and farm life to Fox Chapel’s catalogue, and the company intends to launch a new imprint, CompanionHouse Press, to market them. Fox Chapel president Alan Giagnocavo stated, “This acquisition supports our continuing strategy of becoming a leader in special interest publishing.”
- Billionaire investor and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett discussed the book that changed his life during a recent Facebook live event hosted by Columbia University. Buffett cited Columbia Business School professor Benjamin Graham’s The Intelligent Investor, first published in 1949, as a source of inspiration for his investment strategy. “I knew what everybody thought and all of that at an early age, but what Graham wrote made sense,” Buffett said.
