Invocation Re: The Second Part of an Epic

Issue #167
Spring 2026

Through Hell and what he saw the dead one there
I wrote a poem of the dead one going
And who alive is more than that          the dead
One going          and who is less          how he was led
Through by a bird named Law like law all-knowing
Where all is anguish and guilt spoils the air

And now to write again I ask again
Muse you to make the story roll through me
Like the moon rolling landward through the sea
Though I’m no wave no sea          though I have been
Was          stillborn was          a wave dragged back was when
Nearest the far first gate to death          but we
Together Muse might sing it          hopefully
And life with death as death with life begin
