Joyce Carol Oates

Joyce Carol Oates is the author most recently of the novel Little Bird of Heaven (Ecco, 2009). She lives and teaches in Princeton, New Jersey. “Distance” was composed on-site in a sealed-window hotel room in Vegas in fall 2008.
