Laila Lalami

Laila Lalami is the author of the novels Hope and Other Dangerous Pursuits (Algonquin Books, 2005); Secret Son (Algonquin Books, 2009); and The Moor’s Account (Vintage Books, 2014), which won the American Book Award, the Arab American Book Award, and the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award. It was also a semifinalist for the Man Booker Prize and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. She is the recipient of a British Council Fellowship, a Fulbright Fellowship, and a Guggenheim Fellowship, and is currently a professor of creative writing at the University of California, Riverside. Her new novel, The Other Americans, was published in March 2019 (Pantheon Books).
